The first Saturday of July is a magic night in Calella, with the Cantada de Habaneras: the streets & coasts of this fishermen's village gets full of people and boats to go to the cala del Port Bo.
Tavern's song, it is a link between Spain and Cuba, remembering stories of the people who went to make fortune to that land during the XIXth century.
At the end of the s.XIXth already existed a group of singers. The origin of the "cantada" goes back to 1966, in a village's tavern and with the publication of the book "Calella de Palafrugell y las Habaneras", making it official the following year.
The most famous habaneras are "El meu avi" and "La bella Lola", they are always sung while drinking the "cremat", tipical drink of rhum, coffee, sugar cane, lemon and cinnamon.
