Our history

1912

Ramon Agustí i Soler and Margarida Figueres Pasqual opened a tavern-establishment in Les Voltes de Calella under the name Café d’en Ramon and later Bar Les Voltes. It was located on the site of the current Tony’s.

1922

The lease of the Bar Les Voltes has been renewed. In addition, the Calella de Palafrugell telephone exchange has been installed, which will manage all calls from the town.

1927

An industrialist from Girona built a private residence, known as the Torre Salvadora estate, on the beach of Port Pelegrí. At that time, it was a beach reserved for men, with Platgeta being reserved for women.

1934

Ramon Agustí and his sons Pepito and Guillem Agustí rent the property where they create the Hotel Mediterrà. The opening in June 1934 is widely reported and covered by the press.

1936

During the years of the Civil War from 1936 to 1939, the establishment was seized and used as a colony for refugee children. The Minister of Justice of the Republic also stayed there for certain periods.

1943

By obligation, the name was changed to Hotel Mediterráneo, keeping this name until the 80s and 90s when it returned to its correct name, Hotel Mediterrani.

1945

Between 1945 and 1952, the family purchased the neighbouring plot. The hotel was expanded in phases at this site, and is now the site of the current restaurant.

1953

This year the Agustí family bought the Torre Salvadora estate and unified the entire property.

1962

In 1962, the City Council opened the current Lladó street, dividing the property into two, the current car park and the hotel itself. From 1962 to 1970, various extensions were made to both properties until they occupied the current three-storey volume.

1987

Margarida Agustí, the third generation of the family, joins the management of the hotel, which will allow the hotel to be improved and modernised for 35 years, providing it with more services and adapting it to the new habits of its customers.

2010

For 5 years, the last major remodeling and modernization of the entire building is carried out, from facilities to interiors. Members of the latest generation, Alsius Agustí, are incorporated.
